It is mandatory that each license official attend a rules meeting every year. You must attend a rules interpretation meeting every year in every sport you are licensed. The penalty for not attending is probation or suspension from the IHSA & your affiliated association. Go to either www.ihsa.org or www.rvofficials.com click on clinics and find the nearest location and dates.
Clinic Requirement
1. Each licensed official is required to attend an IHSA Certified Clinic within three calendar years of the previous clinic (i.e., if the official attended a Certified Clinic on July 28, 2003, he/she would be required to attend another clinic before July 28, 2006). 2. Certified Clinics can be conducted by the IHSA, local officials associations, or other interested parties, as long as a certified clinician conducts the training program. 3. If the official fails to meet this requirement, the official will be put on probation. 4. Information regarding certified clinics and clinicians can be found:
* on the IHSA Web page; * by calling the IHSA Officials Department * by contacting your local RVOA
5. All sports have a Level one and Level two clinic. Check the web-site for clinics and level of clinic that will be offered that day. 6. Level 1 and Level 2 clinics The IHSA currently has two levels of curriculum in all sports. Your power rating now has a clinic level requirement. Attending a Level two clinic is worth 5 points and a Level one clinic is worth 2 points towards your power rating.
For an official to meet the mandatory clinic requirement any level one or level two certified clinic will satisfy this requirement, along with the NFHS Online Education Course that you may take at home and get credit as a Level one clinic. An official must attend a certified clinic once every three years. This is a date to date requirement.
